‘Consent phishing’ attacks can defeat two-factor authentication Ars Technica describes how businesses in 62 countries were targeted by a ‘Business Email Compromise’ attack that tricked CEOs and business leaders into transferring large sums of money to the attackers. Regulators investigate leading facial recognition company

Clearview AI has licensed its ‘image scraping’ system to 600 law enforcement agencies Information commissioners in the UK and Australia have announced a joint investigation into the use of data and biometrics by Clearview AI, reports the Financial Times.  Read more here.

China is blamed, not named, for Australian cyber attack

Increase in activity designed to extract data on Covid-19 After the Australian government’s announcement that is under ‘malicious, state-based’ cyber attack, the finger is pointing at China, says ABC.net. The news site goes on to say that the risks are not new, but that activity has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Read more here.
