Wi-Fi will have an important role alongside 5G and 6G networks
Tech news site Disruptive Asia reports on the Wireless Global Congress, and the vision of the industry body, the Wireless Broadband Alliance, for a ‘secure and seamless’ global Wi-Fi network in the near future. The WBA and its member companies are aiming for the ‘exponential increase in the power, speed, capacity and strength’ of Wi-Fi networks that will enable ‘open roaming’ between networks without the need to re-register, says the website. The Alliance cites the new Wi-Fi 6 and 6E standards, as well as the release of 6 Ghz spectrum as significant steps in improving the performance and capacity of networks. The WBA sees advanced Wi-Fi as having an important role alongside 5G and future 6G services.
