Regulatory Watch
The US launch of 5G services by AT&T and Verizon has been delayed again as a lobby group for America’s largest airlines urges the US government to act to avoid disruption from 5G signals close to airports. The C-band spectrum used by the 5G services is adjacent to those used by altimeters, and planned buffer zones around 50 airports are described as insufficient by the airlines. Observers have pointed out that 5G services have been launched in many other countries without sparking similar concerns.
